He’s an Old-Time Handler

He’s an old-time field trial handler
Rides right in front of the judges
Sings to his dog
Lets it hunt through the country
Find its own way

He’s an old time field trial handler
Don’t ride way out yonder
When his dog runs away
Just keeps on riding
Right in front of the judges

Waits for his dog
To come back from a deep cast
Shows the judges he trusts his dog
Some times it pays off sometimes it don’t
Either way the judges know he knows what he’s doing

Sometimes his scout’s out
Unseen in the cover
Knows where the dog went is tracking him down
Will find him pointed and holler or
If he ain’t pointed send him to the front

Cause he’s an old-time scout
Same as the handler
Knows a scout is to be seen just three places
Back of the gallery or beside his dog he’s found pointed or kneeling posing
His dog for the pictures

  1. Great message. Hopefully old time handling will go full circle and return to the original way it was!!
